Steve Ballmer confirms "next generation of Windows systems" coming next year

By: (more) | Software News | Posted: May 24, 2011 1:34 am

Steve Ballmer has done the world a great honor, he has announced (officially) that Microsoft are not only working on Windows 8, but we should expect to hear a lot about Windows 8 and Windows 8-based slates, tablets, PCs and a variety of different form factors. Great!

Ballmer also announced that Windows 7 PCs are expected to hit the 350 million units this year which is an amazing achievement in such a short amount of time and versus Apple, it's not even competition. But we are of course, comparing Apples... to oranges here. Haw, haw. The speech Ballmer gave was at the Microsoft Developer Forum in Tokyo, Japan just yesterday. It's quite long; if you'd like to take a look at it, try this link.
