By: (more) | CPU, APU & Chipsets News | Posted: Jun 6, 2011 1:28 am

Futuremark together with Palit Microsystems, Enermax, Biostar and GEiL have launched their latest overclocking competition today. It is a two segment contest opens to performance enthusiasts across the world to anyone running an Intel Sandy Bridge-based system. The first contest is restricted to PCs with Intel's new Sandy Bridge Z68 chipset with Intel HD Graphics whilst the second competition is open to all PCs running Sandy Bridge CPUs with a Palit branded discrete GPU.

Intel's latest Z68 Sandy Bridge chipset allows integrated graphics to be overclocked and this contest could see the fastest performing integrated graphics solution yet. In the last Futuremark overclocking contest Alva "Lucky_n00b" Jonathan achieved a 3DMark Vantage performance preset score of P3988 using a setup that was powered by an Intel Core i7-2600K processor. It will come down to someone breaking that P4000 score to see if a record can be broken.

Prize wise we have $1000 for the highest overall score in the Palit card contest and an exciting selection of goodies from Palit, Enermax, Biostar and GEiL for runners up. A complete list of prizes is available at the competition website.
