DisplayPort 1.2 brings active cable support, longer cords and a new logo
VESA have popped their heads up quickly to announce an update to the DisplayPort 1.2 standard. The updates include video connections that can be stretched up to 100 feet - five times that of what is out now and will use thinner gauge wire for more flexible cords. The one backlash is the cables are directional, but the new logo should help the confusion over which end goes where.

For those of you with DisplayPort hardware, and for those who over time will end up going DisplayPort, this is good news. Longer cables mean more options!
