Google+ off to a flying start with possibility of 20 million users by the end of the week

While many would argue Google still has quite a ways to go if it wants to play on the same level as Facebook in the social media realm, its recently launched Google+ extension is certainly off to a flying start, now looking to be in the midst of a population explosion.

A statistical analysis by founder of Ancestory.com, Paul Allen along with Facebook app maker FamilyLink.com has highlighted an astonishing rise in numbers recently, reaching 7.3 million last Sunday and likely hitting 10 million today. Assuming that Google doesn't pull its invitation button (made active on Sunday), it's also been carefully predicted that it could well hit 20 million users by this coming weekend.

While 20 million might seem quite bleak in comparison to Facebook's 750 million, when you consider the fact that the service has only been operational for a couple weeks, it really is quite impressive and I can't imagine mr Zuckerberg and co, nor anyone else would have assumed Google had it in 'em to make such an impact straight off the bat in the social media realm.

Just goes to show, never underestimate the big G!
