AMD claims world mobile GPU crown with new HD 6990M
Only two weeks after NVIDIA ramped up notebook GPU performance with its top dog GTX580M offering, AMD has unleashed its competing powerhouse mobile GPU today in the form of the Radeon HD 6990M, which it, like NVIDIA claims to be the "world's fastest single mobile graphics processor".

While being well aware of NVIDIA's newly launched 580M, AMD folds its arms and remains composed while saying that the 6990M was measured to be up to 25% faster than any other announced notebook enthusiast GPU.
The 6990M carries all the expected technologies of today including Eyefinity support, HD3D support and shapes up like this on the specs front :-

The GPU will initially be available in the Alienware M18X (the same notebook NVIDIA's new GTX580M is available in), as well as Clevo's P170HM and P150HM, with inevitably many more to come soon with the launch now out the way.
