The WSJ is reporting that Amazon have plans to release an iPad competitor, as well as two new Kindle models, a touch-screen device and a cheaper model said to be an improved version of the current Kindle. The Amazon tablet is rumored to be a 9-inch tablet, similar in sizing to Apple's iPad. The upcoming Amazon tablet is to be powered by Google's Android OS with the design of the tablet being outsource to an 'Asian manufacturer', funnily enough it won't have a camera.

The two new Kindle devices will feature the same e-ink technology as the current Kindles, if the touch-screen model is using e-ink, then it's most likely using infrared touch technology. An Amazon tablet has been rumored for a while now and some say it [Amazon] are the only company that could have a chance of rivaling the iPad in popularity.
