Razer debut Blade, "world's first true gaming laptop"

By: (more) | Laptops News | Posted: Aug 29, 2011 1:30 am

Razer has unveiled what they say is the "world's first true gaming laptop," which is a 17-inch (1920x1080), hugged by a full aluminum chassis which comes in at 0.88-inch thick and weighs 6.97lbs.

Razer has partnered with Intel and the Blade sports a 2.8GHz Core i7 2640M CPU, 8GB of 1333MHz DDR3 memory and most surprisingly a 2GB NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M with Optimus technology. It also includes a 320GB HDD (where's the SSD, Razer!) and the usual USB 2.0 and 3.0, HDMI-out, Gigabit Ethernet, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 3.0

But that's not all, unfortunately no steak knives are included but we do get the Switchblade UI, which includes 10 customizable keys and an LCD screen to the right of the full-sized keyboard. This LCD screen allows in-game information when a mouse is in use or function as an ultra-sensitive, multi-touch panel designed for gaming on the go.

Spec wise, Razer won't be at the top of the heap - but for a dedicated gaming machine with an LCD screen next to the keyboard dedicated for in-game information, your move, everyone else.
