ASUS to release 6 Ultrabooks in October

By: (more) | Laptops News | Posted: Aug 30, 2011 1:09 am

ASUS have confirmed they will release 6 different Ultrabooks in October, where they'll have their own product launch conference in New York. Prices will range from US$899 to US$1999 according to ASUS chairman Jonney Shih. Jonney hinted at the price drop in key components of the Ultrabook such as panels and DRAM has enabled them to lower the overall cost of Ultrabooks and with HP leaving its PC business and Dell and Toshiba not really interested in Ultrabooks, it leaves ASUS and Acer to grab the wheel for the Ultrabook market.

ASUS are set to launch the 5-6 Ultrabooks with 11.6 and 13.3-inch screen sizes, and finally, Intel have not accepted downstream partners' requests to cut Ultrabook CPU prices, but have offered to provide assistance to allow its partners to launch sub-US$1000 models, according to sources from upstream component players.
