Canon announce PowerShot SX40 HS and S100 point-and-shoot cameras
Canon has hit up the point-and-shoot market with a couple new additions today in the PowerShot S100 and SX40 HS, both of which use the DIGIC 5 image processor, promising excellent low-light performance and faster speeds.

The PowerShot SX40 HS sports a 12.1 megapixel CMOS sensor with an ISO sensitivity of up to ISO 3200. It boasts a 35x optical zoom and includes Intelligent IS (Image Stabilization) and includes a 2.7-inch sized vari-angle LCD.

As for the PowerShot S100, this one also has a 12.1MP CMOS sensor with ISO 6400 sensitivity, GPS, 5x optical zoom and a 3-inch sized LCD. Both the S100 and SX40 HS are capable of Full HD (1920 x 1080) video recording.
Pricing and availability wise, both cameras will set you back $430 US. The PowerShot SX40 HS is scheduled for release later this month, while the S100 is slated for an early November release.
