App of the Day: Reqvu (iOS)

By: (more) | Apps News | Posted: Nov 18, 2011 11:11 am

Our App of the Day today is Reqvu for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad with iOS 4.0 or later.

We saw Kevin Rose's Oink app come out recently which takes location based check-ins a step further by being able to rate things inside places you visit and everything in general. Reqvu also does more than the standard check-in using location services and allows you to request videos and pictures from friends at certain locations around the world.

You can announce to your friends where you are by checking-in and then in Action Mode you can say that you are ready to take videos and photos for them to see. I saw a beta preview of this several weeks ago and it looked great, I'm going to give the final version a try right now.

Reqvu puts you in the moment by letting you make requests for videos and pictures to your friends or the public to capture and share experiences and events that you can't participate in first-hand but don't want to miss out on. See something happening far away, something happening right now, something personal to your friends, or something world-changing. Reqvu enables other people to capture these experiences on their iPhone cameras and then share them with you and others via the Reqvu app, Facebook or YouTube.

Request Feature:

From what you're having for dinner, that family gathering, a concert, wedding, or a night out on the town with friends, to what's happening half-way around the world, instructional videos, opinions and whatever you can think of, just create your request describing what you'd like to see and, if applicable, the location, and enjoy videos and pictures taken by other Reqvu users from different perspectives.

Action Mode Feature:

Announce to your friends and others on Reqvu and Facebook where you are by checking-in and letting them know that you're ready and able to take videos and pictures by activating Action Mode in your Profile. Whether you're in ground central of a protest, at the new, hottest restaurant in town, or bored at a coffee shop or in an airport - people want to see things you may never have thought of.

Friends Features:

Reqvu is chock-full of interesting, diverse and sometimes bizarre requests and content. Assign a request to a specific Facebook Friend for that extra personal touch, or filter your requests feeds to only see what your friends want to see.

Popular & me2 Features:

See a request you think is interesting and want to be notified when someone fulfills it? Click the "me2" icon and you'll also increase that request's popularity. Popular requests get fulfilled more often.
