Amazon's Kindle Fire licks Ice Cream Sandwich, works out that Fire and Ice actually work very well together

By: (more) | Mobile Devices, Tablets & Phones News | Posted: Dec 8, 2011 4:30 am

Amazon's Kindle Fire just can't seem to stay out of the spotlight for more than 32 or so seconds, and today is no different. The Amazon tablet has gotten some love from developmental OS releases, such as CyanogenMod 7.

Today thought, XDA-Developers forum member g1011999 has been a tease and showed off a shot Ice Cream Sandwich running on the Kindle Fire, as well as promising a kernel release in the near future. It's not finished however, and like Ice Cream that hasn't been in the freezer long enough, it's still a bit unstable.

Hardware acceleration and touch input are all good, but audio and Wi-Fi aren't all there yet. It shouldn't be long before Fire and Ice are put together, but I just doubt somehow that Captain Planet will arrive.
