Just before we hit the end of the year, an Apple rumor hits for the next-gen iPhone. BGR has a 'close source' who has revealed that the next iPhone will launch in the fall of next year, roughly the same time that the iPhone 4S launched.

They've also learnt that Apple are planning on using a rubber or plastic material, similar to what is used on their bumper cases, that is set to be built into the new iPhone case. This new material will most likely be used as a bezel surrounding the front edge of the phone, and will do two things.

First, it will join the glass of the iPhone face with the aluminum back plate, secondly, it will also act as a redesigned antenna system that surrounds the device, allowing Apple to build the rear case out of aluminum without having to use a plastic insert above the antennas as they do with their iPad 2 Wi-Fi + 3G.

Other than that, rumor suggests Apple will include a 4-inch display on the next-gen iPhone. This will mean developers will have to redesign their apps to fit the new screen size better. Only time will tell.
