ASUS reportedly working on Kinect-enabled notebooks

By: (more) | Laptops News | Posted: Jan 30, 2012 2:41 am

Just think, a year from now you could be shopping for a new notebook and it will be "Kinect-powered" with Windows 8. ASUS are reportedly working on two notebooks, powered by Windows 8 and sources at Microsoft have referred to them as "official prototypes", suggesting Microsoft are encouraging PC makers to bring the motion-based Kinect controller to their systems.

We have had hacks of Kinect been shown off, but the official launch of Kinect on PC isn't until February 1, just days from now. You'll be able to buy a Kinect kit at retail then, with Amazon listing it for $250. This is only $30 less than an Xbox 360 with Kinect bundle, which leads us to believe it won't be too popular.

But people did say that when 3Dfx launched their Glide-based VGA cards, all we need are some great Kinect games that actually work very well, and it could sell without a problem.
