Apple release two AirPort-related software updates, AirPort Utility now supports iCloud
On Monday afternoon, Apple released two AirPort-related software updates. The first of which was AirPort Utility 6.0, which is a Lion-only version of the software that sets up and configures Apple's base stations. Secondly, an updated AirPort firmware allows for iCloud-based accounts to connect to home computers using Back to My Mac.
AirPort Utility 6.0 looks all pretty and new, sporting the graphical interface used in the iOS version of AirPort Utility. AirPort devices are now displayed in a graphical hierarchy, with a dot signalling if the device is working (displayed in green) or not (yellow or red). If you want to see information on your device, clicking the device shows a pop-up tab with info on said device, as well as buttons to edit the settings. If applicable, it will also allow you to install firmware updates or to configure a new device.
AirPort Utility 6.0 is available right now through software update for Lion users running 10.7.2, with AirPort base stations firmware can be updated through either AirPort Utility 5.5.3 or later running on Snow Leopard or Lion, or AirPort Utility on iOS.
