ABIT KX7-333R Motherboard Review

By: (more) | Motherboards News | Posted: Aug 30, 2002 8:10 am

Overclocked Cafe looks at ABIT's VIA KT333 based KX7-333R motherboard. With support for all of the AMD Socket A CPU's, ability to run the memory at 166MHz, ATA133 support via the Highpoint HPT372 controller (and allowing for greater expansion with IDE drives), an excellent layout, and the plethora of BIOS tweaks using SoftMenu III...make this board a great choice for the end-user wanting expandability, and a great board that allows them to squeeze out every last drop.

After many months of using my trusty AK31, it is officially retired to a backup status. The headroom for growth and future upgrades make the KX7 a very attractive choice for the hobbyist/home system builder. Got a Duron and a stick of PC1600? Stick it on this board, and you can wait to upgrade memory and CPU until you can afford it. Want a full-tilt hyper drive system? Stick the latest Thoroughbred CPU, some PC3500 DDR and a couple ATA/133 drives in RAID 0, top it off with a GF4 Ti 4600, and you will have a monster - before overclocking!
