iPhone lock screen flaw, can be partially bypassed by two new bugs

By: (more) | Mobile Devices, Tablets & Phones News | Posted: Feb 24, 2012 4:23 am

Oh the sheer horror! An Apple iPhone can be cracked into! Well, iPhone Islam have found a new bug that allows you to bypass the lock screen on the iPhone 3GS, 4 and 4S. The trick is shown in a three-minute YouTube video, below, where if it is successfully completed, allows you to get unauthorized access to the handset's full contact list, recent calls and favorites, as well as the ability to make standard or FaceTime calls.

The hack does require you to jump through some hoops: where you must return a missed call through the iOS notification screen while the device itself is searching for a network. The above video notes that it is actually easier to do if you're in an area with next to no signal, but you can also use another trick: repeatedly eject and reinsert the SIM card to get the same effect. If this is timed properly, the handset will lock itself to the phone application.

Have you heard of this flaw before? Have you tried it? Are you going to try it?
