Everyone wrong - not iPad 3 or iPad HD, "The new iPad" called just that

So, the Apple just got done with its iPad press event and we were all wrong on the naming.

It's not going to be called the iPad 3 or the iPad HD as many thought it would be named. Instead Apple is just going with "The new iPad".

This is a bit of a surprise and it's sure to confuse customers, but Apple must know better than us. It's probably not a massive surprise as the iPod never had version numbers and neither did Macs or MacBooks for that matter.

The new iPad will start at $499 for the Wi-Fi 16GB version and go all the way up to $829 for the 64GB Wi-Fi + 4G version. The old iPad will just be available in 16GB Wi-Fi and 16GB Wi-FI + 3G for $399 and $529 respectively, quite a drop over the old prices.
