The upcoming Alienware M17X R4 will offer both GeForce 600-series and Radeon 7000-series GPUs
If the Razer Blade gaming notebook wasn't enough to get your juices flowing, some new details of Alienware's upcoming notebook should. We should expect three options with the new Alienware M17X R4 gaming notebook, a GeForce GTX 675M, GeForce GTX 660M or Radeon HD 7970M. Not bad at all if you ask me.
On top of this, there are also three different display options on the Alienware M17X R4. All there are 17.3-inch models, but we have a 1600x900 resolution screen, and then two 1920x1080 options. The first of which is just the standard 2D screen, while the other is a 3D, WLED backlight option. Whether this supports NVIDIA's 3D Vision 2 technology, or AMD's 3DHD technology is another question.
There's also the option of color between red and black, and interestingly, the laptop is said to sport eDP (embedded DisplayPort) instead of LVDS for LCD communication. eDP is said to reduce the wiring footprint, and offers higher speed. We should also expect to see Intel's Ivy Bridge processor options in this laptop, too. Now what I want to know is, where and when can I get one of these bad boys?
