Facebook employees paint giant 42-foot QR code on roof

By: (more) | Modding News | Posted: Mar 27, 2012 10:29 pm

When Mark Zuckerberg announced his intentions for a "Space Hackathon" to customize Facebook's new headquarters at 1 Hacker Way, I'm sure he didn't expect this. Employees took him at his word and at 8PM the night of the Hackathon, 5 employees climbed to the roof with tar paint and set off painting a giant 42-foot QR code on the roof that could be used to rick-roll viewers of satellite imagery.

By midnight, about a total of 30 people had joined in, but they would be unable to see if it worked until daylight. The next day, they flew "frankencopter" over the roof to gain aerial imagery of the hack. When it returned, they were excited to see that it worked. This just goes to show that the huge corporation is still young at heart. You can scan the picture above to see. I promise, it won't rick-roll you!
