Many Instagram users enjoyed mass tears over the popular app heading to Android, where they no longer felt an exclusive app was on their beloved iPhone. But, another brick wall was met when Facebook acquired Instagram for $1 billion. This was another punch in the face for Instagram for iPhone users, and now the company is enjoying something quite different. Instagram announced through Twitter (funnily enough) that they have reached the top slot in free apps on Apple's App Store.

The replies to Instagram's Tweet were mixed, with a few loving it, and a few showing their disappointment, and anger:

At the end of the day, it doesn't really matter, Facebook and Instagram have business to do, and they both know their users will still use their wares. Instagram has enjoyed success on the Android front, too, with over 5 million downloads in just 6 days time. Quite the silent achievement from Instagram there.
