Activision, Tencent announce China-bound Call of Duty Online

By: (more) | Gaming News | Posted: Jul 4, 2012 5:26 am

Call of Duty: Black Ops II isn't even here yet, and there's another Call of Duty game that has been announced. Activision and Tencent today announced Call of Duty Online, a massively multiplayer online first-person shooter that is targeted at a Chinese audience.

There aren't many details for the China-bound COD title, but the above video shows off some game play that looks pretty identical to the other COD titles. The game is destined to be a free-to-play title, where they'll most likely charge people for additional in-game content such as maps, gear and weapons.

Call of Duty Online draws on previous content found in the other COD titles, as well as adding new content from Tencent. Call of Duty Online will debut in China, and possibly make it to the rest of the world, but this is unconfirmed. The rest of the world will be enjoying Black Ops II, and after that has died down, Call of Duty Online may just be unleashed to gamers around the world.
