By: (more) | Gaming News | Posted: Jul 12, 2012 4:40 am

We all should know who Valve are, but a quick refresher: they're those awesome people behind Steam, Half-Life, the Source Engine, Counter-Strike, Team Fortress, and oh so much more. The company has today announced the open beta release of Source Filmmaker (SFM).

Source Filmmaker has been made available for free, for everyone. Source Filmmaker is a storytelling tool that Valve developed inside the Source Engine so that users can create short animated films. These are the types of films we've seen such as the "Meet the Team" series we've all come to love from Team Fortress 2.

Valve haven't released too much, after all, it's just an open beta for now. So firstly, the company has released all assets from Team Fortress 2, as well as assets to two of the "Meet the Team" flicks.
