Epic Games have finally started releasing some information on their first Unreal Engine 4-powered game, which is being developed primarily for PC, with the potential to hit other platforms in the future. It may be released in time to hit next-generation consoles if the engine is good enough.

The game is called Fortnite, and is described as a combination of Minecraft, The Walking Dead, and Team Fortress 2. Sounds exciting, huh? Fortnite is set in a post-apocalyptic world with cartoony graphics, with the gameplay focusing on scavenging for survival. In Fortnite, you'll be searching for building materials, weapons and other useful items during the day, which you'll use to fend monsters off such as trolls that spawn at night.

Currently the day-night cycle is around one-hour, but this may change. Surviving throughout the game will be the player fortifying your holdup with the in-game construction mechanics that are said to be more complex with Minecraft's. Materials include axes, stones, and sledgehammers. These items can see you building many different things, with Epic striving for variety, but they've also said you won't require an engineering degree to build items in Fortnite.
