It looks like its nearly confirmed that Apple is going to shift to a 19-pin dock connector for their next-generation iPhone, versus the current 30-pin connector. Two sources close to Reuters "familiar with the matter" have said the move to the 19-pin connector move is "to make room for the earphone moving to the bottom".

This would mean that the new iPhone would not be compatible with the thousands upon thousands of accessories out there which use the current 30-pin connector. But, personally, I think it's a great move.

If you're like me, your phone in in your pocket (for me, right front pocket of my trousers/jeans) and is always head-first, meaning if a headphone set is used, I have to flip it around. This way, you could have it down-facing in your pants, and still have the headphones in. I kinda like the move Apple have (maybe) made here.

But, it also represents a problem for people with their accessories, as well as a new opportunity for accessory makers. Your thoughts?
