NVIDIA together with Nyko have announced that they are working together on a new gaming controller for Android-based devices. There will be two devices released, the normal version called "PlayPad", and a larger version dubbed "PlayPad Pro", both controllers will arrive in fall 2012.

The PlayPad's will come in a range of colors, as shown in the picture above, and sport dual analog sticks, a d-pad, four face buttons as well as dual shoulder buttons on both sides. There'll also be a stand made available for tablets that ships with each PlayPad. The PlayPad's connect with your Android-based device through Bluetooth, where you'll be able to sync it using the free app "Playground", which will also double as an app where you can customize the control schemes.

The PlayPad's will work best with Tegra-optimized games such as Dead Trigger, and Max Payne, but support for other titles will be included. There is a software required for the PlayPad controllers, where you'll need Android 3.0 or higher in order to use the PlayPad.
