RumorTT: Samsung Galaxy Note II could sport flexible display

By: (more) | Mobile Devices, Tablets & Phones News | Posted: Aug 13, 2012 9:29 am

Samsung's Galaxy Note II isn't too far away, with the 5.5-inch 'phablet' rumored to sport a flexible AMOLED display. Korea IT Times is reporting that the new Note could feature the screen tech, and that Samsung have been working with the technology for quite a while now, and are looking to bake it into the Note II.

Flexible AMOLED is said to provide a much tougher handset, which means it should be able to take more than a drop or two before it hurts the phone. The technology, even with the word 'flexible', won't actually bend, but Samsung will slightly bend the screen onto the phone. With this slight bend, and the combination of an unbreakable plane display technology with its plastic substrate, it would provide the Note II with a much, much tougher screen compared to those found on competing handsets.

Samsung's flexible AMOLED tech will also give Samsung a little bit more room to move inside the phone, where we should see a bigger battery than what the original Note featured. Samsung have already confirmed that they'll be revealing the Note II in Berlin on August 29. This news just makes me want it even more.
