Metal Gear Solid movie has been greenlit

By: (more) | HT & Movies News | Posted: Aug 31, 2012 11:26 am

We've heard rumors over the years of a Metal Gear Solid movie, but now it has been confirmed. Yesterday was Metal Gear Anniversary in Tokyo, where photos of banners showing a slogan saying "Metal Gear Solid Hollywood Movie", sporting the Columbia Pictures logo. Columbia Pictures is owned by Sony.

Sony of course own the PlayStation console, where Metal Gear Solid has enjoyed being pretty much exclusive to it. Avi Arad, producer behind most of the latest Marvel movie productions, has been quoted saying:

For many years I fought to bring comics to theaters and video games are the comics of today.

Considering that Metal Gear Solid is mostly cutscenes, I wouldn't be surprised if they just cut it all together and shipped it as a movie. I'm joking of course, but it will be good to see MGS on the big screen. Are you excited?
