Toys 'R' Us unveil tablet designed for kids, priced at $150

By: (more) | Mobile Devices, Tablets & Phones News | Posted: Sep 10, 2012 6:28 pm

Tired of your kids dropping your expensive tablet? Well, Toys 'R' Us has your back as they are going to be selling a tablet designed just for kids, including built-in features for the drop that it is almost guaranteed to experience. The tablet looks like most of your entry level Android tablets, but comes with a few kid-centric features.

For one, the device comes preloaded with 50 games, books, and educational apps. There are also more than 6,000 additional apps available through the Tabeo Store. Children can also use the built-in Wi-Fi to browse the web safely as the tablet features parental controls that can block objectionable web content.

The tech specs side of things prove pretty marginal. It's powered by a 1GHz processor, 4GB of built-in storage, and a 7-inch multitouch screen. The storage can be upgraded through the use of micro SDHC cards. The device will be sold by Toys 'R' Us exclusively so people can't try it out in store and then buy it online cheaper.

Expect the device to hit store shelves October 21. The device is currently available for pre-order on the Toys 'R' Us website with an estimated ship date of October 1.
