Foxconn says that the iPhone 5 is the most difficult device they've ever assembled
For those of you who still can't get an iPhone 5, it looks like there might be a legitimate reason behind the shortage according to The Wall Street Journal. WSJ are reporting that a Foxconn official who wanted to remain anonymous said that the "iPhone 5 is the most difficult device that Foxconn has ever assembled".

Even to this day, workers are continuing to learn how to manufacture the smartphones to meet Apple's increasingly high standards. WSJ's anonymous Foxconn official continued stating that the iPhone 5 "uses a new coating material which makes it more susceptible to scratching", which in turn makes it harder to meet quality checks. The Foxconn official adds:
It's always hard to satisfy both aesthetic needs and practical needs.
