KT400 Motherboard Roundup @ OCNZ
Overclockers New Zealand has posted a short KT400 motherboard roundup comparing 5 different boards from Abit, ASUS, Gigabyte and Soltek. The article doesn't go into much detail about each of the individual motherboards but they've included a fair set of various benchmarks to gauge the difference in performance between each. This might be a good place to start if you are looking for a motherboard to seat your new Athlon processor - even though they draw the conclusion of there being no point upgrading from older KT266A or KT333 based motherboards.
Around 2 months ago, VIA released the "brand new" KT-400 chipset. The improvements over the KT-333 chipset include AGP 8X support, unofficial DDR-400 support and 8X V-Link between the north and south bridges. By looking at the so-called "improvements", one has to wonder WHY on earth does VIA name it as KT-400 instead of KT-333 8X.More information @ OCNZ
Anyway, enough of my rants let us get back to our agenda, the round up of KT-400 motherboards. We've reviewed 5 popular boards from Abit, Asus, Gigabyte and Soltek and now it is a good time to see how they stack up against each other.
