Microsoft Surface Pro 64GB version will set you back $899, have around 4 hours battery life

Microsoft has finally released information regarding its Surface Pro tablets, you know, the ones running an x86 chip and a full version of Windows 8. The software giant has confirmed that the 64GB version of the Surface Pro tablet will set you back a whopping $899 and the 128GB version will see you shelling out $999.

In other words, these tablets will set you back more than my new, reasonably high-end laptop. Don't forget, it'll be an extra $100 if you want to get a Touch or Type Cover. The new tablets will be making a debut in January. Though no specific date has been, it'd be a solid guess that they will make some sort of appearance at CES in Vegas.

Furthermore, Microsoft has said that the Surface Pro will come with roughly half the battery life of the Surface RT tablet. This means that users should expect between 4 and 5 hours of battery life, also in line with my newly purchased laptop. That kind of battery life is quite a bit out of sync with the rest of the tablet market.
