Google Maps for Wii U lets you travel the world from your console in January

By: (more) | Gaming News | Posted: Dec 5, 2012 5:56 pm

If there was a list of platforms that absolutely didn't need Google Maps, Nintendo's Wii U would be very high on that list, but it looks as though the company thought otherwise as everyone's favorite Maps application will be making its way to the Wii U next month.

Google Maps on the Wii U will use the game console to display a satellite map on the user's television while offering Street View on the GamePad controller. Users will be able to pan around locations to offer a virtual tour of locations they may not be able to see without flying halfway across the world.

Google Maps for Wii U will launch in Japan at the beginning of January for free up until March 2013. No word yet if or when Google Maps will make its way to the U.S. Wii U, but we don't see any reason why it wouldn't be made available after it's introduced in Japan.
