If you need emergency help, try 911 or 112 as they are the world's standard emergency numbers, according to ITU

Well, it's official. 911 and 112 are the officially sanctioned emergency numbers. The International Telecommunication Union has decided that these two numbers should be the numbers used by countries in the future for contacting emergency services. It makes sense that countries should use the same number as it makes traveling a bit safer and easier.

No longer will you have to remember different emergency numbers when traveling. It's likely that it will be like previous best practices, meaning countries that currently use a different number won't be forced to change it, even if it makes it into the telecommunications treaty.

This has come out of the same conference currently going on in Dubai that is trying to decide the future of the internet. The conference wraps up Friday and has seen a lot of discourse regarding the future of the internet. If anything interesting comes out, we'll be sure to let you know.
