GeForce FX Clock Speeds

By: (more) | Video Cards News | Posted: Dec 13, 2002 3:23 am

Reactor Critical have information posted on their website regarding core and memory clock speeds of nVidia's upcoming GeForce FX 5800 Ultra and regular 5800 parts. No concrete release dates are given but they do mention that all the GeForce FX-based graphics cards will be equipped with 128MB of DDR-II SDRAM memory as well as D-Sub, DVI-I and TV-Out connectors.

Although Nvidia announced a lot of interesting technologies that are implemented in the company's GeForce FX graphics processor, they have not revealed a lot of the details about the actual graphics cards on the VPU, namely, core-clock speeds for core and memory.

As you probably know, there will be two versions of the GeForce FX powered products: the GeForce FX 5800 Ultra and the GeForce FX 5800. The former one will work at 500/1000MHz for core and memory, while the latter will function at 400/900MHz, according to what I have heard from some of the sources.

The lowered speeds will not only allow the company's manufacturing partner to sell the units for less price, thus, making them more affordable for customers, but also install ordinary cooling solutions that should be more quiet compared to Nvidia's reference GeForce FX cooling system. All the GeForce FX-based graphics cards will be equipped with 128MB of DDR-II SDRAM memory as well as D-Sub, DVI-I and TV-Out connectors. Prices on the parts are still under determination.
