Future Look: Will Your PC Have A Brain?

Think back ten, fifteen, or even fifty years. What did people think the future would be like? Would it have flying cars? Or perhaps we would all be living on the moon by now. Who can really tell what the future holds. If Sony's President Kunitake Ando has his way, our computers will have brains. Join MSN and ZDNet as they explore the depths of Ando's concept of the future to come.

 

If Sony President Kunitake Ando is right about the near future, people will finally be able to retrieve their personal information from powerful networks that allow anytime, anywhere across a variety of individual devices. The typical desktop computer in that broadband nirvana will bear little resemblance to today's conventional PC.

 

The trick for Sony is to time things right so as to be on the cutting edge of the next big thing. But being too far ahead of the curve can be just as bad as being too far behind. For Ando and for Sony--one of the most successful companies in the history of consumer electronics--the rewards could be as large as the margin of error is slim.
