ABIT Engineers Pushing the Limits
An internal source of ours sent us along an e-mail letting us know that the ABIT IT7 MAX 2 v 2.0 was able to be overclocked to 220MHz FSB using the upcoming Intel 800MHz FSB processor, meaning a record FSB OC of 880MHz, where other motherboards had only been able to reach 180MHz FSB and thereabouts.
We can only attribute the successful overclocking of the ABIT motherboard due to the extra power it possesses. At this stage only ABIT uses a 4-phase power solution, while others only use 2-phase power. For future generations of CPUs, 4-phase power is needed. If your board doesn't offer 4-phase power, don't expect to upgrade your PC to the next generation of CPUs.
It's good to see engineers wanting to push their parts to the limits as much as us enthusiasts!
