OUYA Android gaming console pre-orders open today, all set for June retail launch

OUYA, the little Android based gaming console, is right on track with its timeline of a March release to its Kickstarter backers. While that is excellent news, the rest of the world has found out when we will be able to have an OUYA of our own.

Pre-orders opened today for individual customers, with MSRP set at $99 for the console and a single controller. Additional controllers can be purchased for an additional $49.99 each with a maximum of four controllers per console. To secure your pre-order you will need to visit the company's website listed at source #2 below.

Julie Uhrman, OUYA's founder, said in an interview with the Wall Street Journal that those who pre-order through the company's website will receive their units in April, with the retail outlets having product on the shelves in June. She did not mention any specifics, but she said that the number of units sold greatly exceeds the 68,000 backers from the Kickstarter campaign.
