- New graphics chip company

 

XGI, a spin-off company of SiS, will be launching three new graphics processors in September this year at Computex including high end, mainstream and entry level products according to the company's President, Mr. Chris Lin.

 

The rep from Extreme Graphics Innovation also confirmed that his company will make a lot of efforts in order to popularize XGI's brand-names. "For a graphics vendor, if you just totally focus on the entry level it is not easy to build your brand name," company's President Mr. Chris Lin said. "So in order to get back into being a real graphics vendor for discrete parts, we need to offer a full product line to the market, including high end, mainstream and entry level."

 


- Lovesan Virus gets no loving

The internet has taken a massive hit in recent days with the lovesan/MS blaster worm. The virus attacks your computer using a vulnerability in windows NT4, 2000 and XP. The worm scans the internet for a system with TCP port 135 available, and then infects it. The virus then downloads a tool, to release more copies of the virus, and broadcast packets of data to any network available.

It's still struggling to reduce its forthcoming "Prescott" performance microprocessor power consumption from the heady heights of 103 watts to 94 watts.
