- Call of Duty Demo Gameplay Performance

nV News has posted an interesting article with the new Call of Duty demo talking about gameplay performance on GeForce FX 5600 and 5900 cards.

The game is based on Quake 3 (OpenGL) engine. In order to create new light effects, animations and A.I system most of the old code had to be replaced. I wouldn't call it a beefed-up Quake 3 engine either since only a small portion of it was left intact. So what's the big thing that has been modified inside the engine? Probably the redesigned rendering system which can push 200,000 polygons per scene. The new T&L also comes with support for pixel and vertex shaders which are utilized by the latest GPU's.

Our sister website, TweakTown Gamer, has posted a review of Hitman 2: Silent Assassin. Check it!

Sure, it's been a while since Hitman 2: Silent Assassin was released, but it still has a very strong following - and for good reason, too. (I still play it. - Gavin) Join Joshua Blackman as he takes you on a novel and original journey exploring the game.

- ALi Athlon 64

OC Workbench has taken the ALi M1687 Athlon 64 K8 reference motherboard for a spin with an Athlon 64 at 1.8GHz.

- Soltek KT600

More Athlon action this time with the earlier generation K7 as AnandTech check out Soltek's KT600 motherboard.

It's a good thing we didn't pass on the Soltek, because it held a few surprises in our testing. The Soltek has the kind of promise that makes us think that perhaps, with time and a little more maturity, the KT600 chipset may be able to compete effectively in the performance arena with nForce2.
