Chaintech K8 Exposed

Our contact over at Chaintech in Taiwan sent us through some pictures of their upcoming K8 Athlon 64 motherboard called Zenith ZNF3-150 based on nVidia's nForce3 150 chipset through the e-waves. The actual surprise is not the fact that we have first look pictures of a K8 retail motherboard, but one of the features of it which raised our eye-brows.

 

 

RadEX (short for Revolutionary Active Direct EXhaust) is Chaintech's name for their new cooling technology which cools crucial capacitors using heat pipe tech for better overclocking and stability. The idea is similar to ABIT and their OTES on the IC7 MAX3 but it seems Chaintech have taken the original idea one step further with claims of decreases in temperature by 30%.

 

 

A heat pipe is a two phase heat transfer device. Consisting of a vacuum tight sealed envelop a wick structure and working fluid. There is a small amount of water inside the tube whose job is to absorb the latent heat at the heat source.
