80mm Fan Performance Comparison

By: (more) | Posted: Sep 24, 2001 2:20 am

With those hot T-Birds taking control of the overclocking crowd, case fans have become a must-have. But what fan to get? Bluescreenofdeth wants to help you out in your shopping, so take a gander at their 80mm Fan Performance Comparison and see what's the best performing fan around. here's a snip:

"The first of the bunch is the Delta 80mm 'Focused Flow' fan. This monster is about twice the depth of any 'normal' 80mm fan, and somhow manages to exceed even the 130CFM YSTech 120mm in the noise levels department. That said, scroll down and you'll see some pretty awsome results with this baby. Next up we have the YSTech, a fairly standard contender - moderate noise levels, along with moderate cooling. Numbers four and five, the Sunon and the Thermaltake again come under this catagory, although the Thermaltake is tagged 'High Peformance', and it just about lives up to the name. Finally we have the Evercool somthing or other (couldn't find any details on it). The vibes i get about this fan aren't the most brilliant - basically it satisfys the low noise tag 100%; but by doing this it spins at around 1RPM and delivers about 1CFM airflow (please note that i am exaggerating wildly in saying this). I've also heard tales of the Evercool being a bit unreliable, although i haven't experienced this personally and can't really vouch for that."
