- New Shuttle XPC BIOS

Sylvia from Shuttle in Taiwan sent us some information regarding a new BIOS for their Intel 865-based SB61G2, SB62G2 and SB65G2 XPC's. The new BIOS is supposed to increase performance by 30% by enabling PAT as found on the Canterwood chipset, as far as we know.

We've done some initial testing with the new BIOS and found performance in various benchmarks to be around 30% slower, not quicker. Memory performance is up in SiSoft Sandra but that is it.

(Taipei, Taiwan - October 30, 2003) Shuttle Inc, a leading provider of small form-factor (SFF) computers and mainboards, has posted P-BIOS with Turbo Mode. Design to improve performance on Shuttle's SB61G2, SB62G2 and SB65G2 XPC's by up to 30 percent (individual user results may vary).
