- Intel Pentium 4 "Extreme Edition"

As mentioned earlier this week, Intel have made a bold move in response to AMD's recent offering of the Athlon64, introducing a 'tweaked' version of their Pentium 4 based chip. It is effectively titled the "Extreme Edition" cpu now making it their flagship model. What really makes it stand out from the crowd is it's whopping 2mb of level3 cache! How does this compare to the nimble and efficient mannerism of the a64 line? Here's what they had to say over at Ace's Hardware.

The first 64-bit x86 CPU for the Windows desktop is here: the Athlon 64 FX and Athlon 64 have been launched and are available today. AMD's newest CPU has been improved where it matters the most: a much faster memory controller, a more intelligent branch predictor and a faster and larger L2-cache. AMD's ambitions for the Athlon 64 FX are very high, it is "simply the fastest desktop CPU, period!"

But Intel isn't sitting still. Despite being a huge company, it is not slow on the draw. History shows that the whole Intel fleet can perform a U-turn at lightning speed, and this time is no exception. In a preemptive strike, Intel is launching the Pentium 4 Extreme Edition, precisely timed to spoil AMD's launch. Or is the new Pentium 4 with 2 MB L3 cache an Emergency Edition chip as some of our readers like to call it?

- Thermaltake X-Blower

This new cooling solution by Thermaltake looks to be quite a nice design, introducing yet another unique product that seperates itself from the majority of other air cooling setups floating around on the market today. But as we all know, to 'see' a new and potentially improved idea is never to assume it, not without results anyway. Neoseeker has kindly put this cooler to the test.

These days, Thermaltake is a company that comes to mind instantly of many cooling enthusiasts. The lineup has grown from the initial Volcano series of coolers into case fans, case accessories and even cases of their own creation complete with Thermaltake's own cooling systems. Thermaltake has grown to take on all aspects of cooling in search of the ideal solution for each end user. Today we get to bring to all of you the X-Blower system. A combination cooling solution to upgrade current heatsink intake fans and add an exhaust port blower fan that pulls hot air away from above and below the cpu area.
