- High Speed Gigabyte wireless router

There is a story over at the INQ which says Gigabyte will soon release a new 802.11G wireless router engineered to operate across the air ways at 108Mbps. This is twice the speed of regular 802.11G routers.

D-Link has been offering a patch for their 802.11G wireless gear for a little while now which doubles the speed of their "G" equipment to 108Mbps but it really only guarantees a consistent 54Mbps transfer rate which is much better than the 20 - 25Mbps we achieve through most of the new wireless gear we've had come through the labs.

The unit also includes the extended distribution wireless system, which Gigabyte claims will broaden the network range, acting as an access point but retaining the AP function of connecting wireless clients.

- Sapphire Technology looks into Water Cooling

X-Bit Labs are reporting that Sapphire Technology, a key producer of ATI based graphics cards, is looking at adding water cooling to their line of Radeon based graphics cards.

Sapphire supplies RADEON series of graphics cards, including the highest-end RADEON 9800 XT model, with passive heat-pipe based coolers for those, who prefer extremely quiet computers. Water-coolers may allow increasing overclockability of certain graphics cards from Sapphire while maintaining very quiet operation - something enthusiasts may be tremendously interested in.
