- Leadtek 400/400GT

The lads from T-Break have taken a look at a couple of Leadtek's latest-gen graphics cards on the weekend. Based off nVidia's 6800 GPU these are the non ultra and GT versions which offer excellent performance for the price, particularly the GT which is an almost identical twin to it's ultra brother with the exception of clock speeds and additional molex power. Although the bundle's nothing to write home about, Leadtek seem to offer good solid cards here with an effective and quiet cooling solution.

Although nVidia announced the 6800 GPU some time back, we've only just recently started looking at retail cards by most of the manufacturers. Today, we take a look at two cards from Leadtek- the standard 6800 as well as the 6800GT based A400 and A400GT cards. While we can respect the fact that all manufacturers have their naming conventions, we think it would be a good idea to base model numbers upon the GPU models as it would avoid any confusion to the end-user.

Both these cards come in a similar package which is nice but considering the "over-the-top" packaging used by other vendors, might seem a little subtle. We think Leadtek needs to be more aggressive in their package designs as they're primarily a VGA card provider. The box, as shown below shows the model number as well as the GPU on which its based along with the size and type of the memory on the front.
