Intel to Unveil Mobile Core 2 Extreme X7800

Big on notebooks with stacks of grunt? You'll love what Intel have in store for us all, a mobile variant of their Core 2 Extreme processor! The upcoming Core 2 Extreme X7800 is said to operate at 2.6GHz with an 800MHz FSB, and will carry 4MBs of L2 cache.

 

The DailyTech have also learnt that an X7900 Core 2 Extreme mobile is on the horizon as well, that chip operating at 2.8GHz!

 

These should make for some damn awesome performing notebooks, providing the $ factor doesnt hold you back.

Although the shift to notebook computer is the market's trend, extreme products are still only remaining on the desktop due to size factor and power consideration. Yet, this tradition would be broken in the near future, as Intel just announced its first extreme edition's processor for notebook computer.

 

Core 2 Extreme X7800, the first extreme processor for notebook computer, possesses cores running at 2.6GHz, 800MHz FSB, and a 4MB L2 Cache. Besides its high-speed cores, its multiplier is also unlocked as the desktop's edition, allowing user to adjust for their need. In the consideration of stability, however, this Merom's extreme edition may not be fascinating in the view of end user, according to a market analyst.
