Intel kills PS/2 on its P35 board

By: (more) | Posted: May 11, 2007 4:53 am

It seems like Intel has decided to remove PS/2 all together on its new P35 board. Although the chipset isn't officially launching for another 10 days, there is no shortage of information about the new chipset and you can even buy motherboards based on it if you live in the right country. It seems like Intel decided not to push the envelope too far with its P35 board, as it looks pretty standard Intel fair from the pictures.

Besides the missing PS/2 ports the board also seems to share its basic design with a G33/G35 model from Intel as you can clearly see a space for a D-Sub connector on the board. Features wise there are at least six rear USB 2.0 ports, onboard Ethernet, FireWire and 7.1-channel sound. The board has one x16 PCIe slot, three x1 PCIe slots and three PCI slots. There are six SATA connectors and a floppy connector, but IDE was removed on the last generation of boards from Intel, so don't expect to see it on future Intel boards. Not the most exciting motherboard, but Intel made boards rarely are, as they're built for stability, not features and performance.
