Exclusive: Asus EAH2900XT AquaTank

By: (more) | Posted: May 25, 2007 9:27 am

We've just got some exclusive information and pictures of the brand new EAH2900XT AquaTank from Asus. This is Asus' water cooled version of the Radeon HD 2900XT and it looks far more impressive than the card we saw earlier from MSI.

Asus claims that the water cooler will lower the temperature of the GPU by 10% over the reference cooler from AMD. Although this doesn't sound too impressive, it seems like Asus has done some solid work on the construction of this cooler. The water reservoir is located above the radiator and fan in a sealed unit and the pump is located on top of the water block on the GPU. This means that the card still takes up two slots, but this is a rather minor compromise. Asus has also fitted extra cooling to the back of the card and there's a flow indicator with a built in audible alarm in case something would go wrong with the cooling.

We don't know what the clock speeds of this card will be as yet, but we'll be sure to let you know as soon as we find out. Expect to see this card on Computex in a little over a week's time.
