Palit straps 1GB to mainstream GeForce

By: (more) | Video Cards News | Posted: Dec 10, 2007 1:20 pm

In what seems like an endless flow of graphics card news the past few weeks, Palit are next to step into the fray with news of a couple new products.

Palit announced they will be offering 1GB versions of the Super+ with the GeForce 8600GT and 8500GT. This doubles the usual amount of RAM on offer and the cards are also factory overclocked out-of-the-box with custom coolers.

We have seen companies do this in the past but the performance improvement versus 512MB has not really been able to justify the added cost.

We will attempt to get one of these cards in for testing in the New Year and compare it against a 512MB version to see if the doubling of memory is actually worth it or not.
