Dell recently entered the tablet PC market with the introduction of their Latitude XT which is a convertible 12.1" system which claims to be one of the lightest on the market at under four pounds.
The American company will begin taking orders by the end of the year and the starting price is set at $2,499 USD. It packs either a Core 2 Solo or Duo ULV processor which enables the tablet PC to provide impressive battery life of up to 9.5 hours.
One feature Dell is pushing is the capacitive touch capability which is said to sense the touch of a finger with no pressure required for the system to recognize input. The press release also goes on to claim that the Latitude XT is great for multi-touch capabilities allowing the use of more than one finger for tasks such as zoom and repositioning a picture. Sounds good in theory, we'll need to wait and see how it works.
The full press release is over at the Dell website, here.
